ADVENT DEVOTIONS – Introduction

Doug Webster is my friend and mentor and in the late 1980′s I had the privilege of serving as Administrative Pastor at Evangelical Community Church (ECC) in Bloomington, Indiana during his tenure as Senior Pastor. These devotionals were originally prepared for ECC and Doug has graciously allowed me to revise and post them. Doug is now Professor of Pastoral Theology and Preaching at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama.

Hi Jim, thanks again for putting these meditations into circulation. I trust you’re doing well. I think about you and pray for you much more than would be indicated by our correspondence. I’ll be putting my new book Table Grace in the mail to you as soon as I receive copies. When you get a chance to update me on your work please do so. We are still heading up to NYC, but now only twice a month. Delta has cut back direct flights which has made it more difficult. We leave tomorrow at 6:20am for a fully planned weekend of ministry. I am thankful for you. together in Christ, Doug
